Lord Derby won't take 'No!' for an answer
Lord Derby won't take a resounding 'No!' for an answer. Newmarket Town Council rejected his plans, Forest Heath District Council rejected his plans, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, the Rt. Hon. Eric Pickles MP rejected his plans, but Lord Derby refuses to listen to Newmarket or the townspeople's elected representatives.
Fresh from the rejection at every stage of planning of his disastrous plans to tear up his horse breeding stud at Hatchfield Farm outside Newmarket to build 1,200 houses and an industrial estate, Lord Derby has returned with an application to build 400 homes on the very same site, despite there being so many immesurably better and more sustainable house and office development opportunites in the town.
